The CTE Program Vision:  Digital and media art creation with high levels of literacy to promote self-expression that fosters college readiness and access to industry standards. Students are given the opportunity to receive paid job training (apprenticeship or internships) through our partner sites.

9th & 10th Grade – Junior Institute  
Graphic Design & Photoshop
with Ms.  Gina Goico and Ms. Ivonne Tejada

R.E.T introduces students to the functionality and operation of computers through a broad range of topics that cover basic computer hardware and software, Mac OS, Google Docs, Google Classroom and Adobe Photoshop, while learning the principles of digital imaging, design and photography.

11th Grade – Senior Institute
Music Production & Media Arts
with Ms. Katy Mejia  

Students are introduced to music technology; audio recording techniques, songwriting, composing using loops and midi, piano and an intro to music theory. The applications we use are Apple Logic Pro X, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere to create original works of art. Students create original music, poetry and videos which they publish to Vimeo and/or Soundcloud.  Students also receive Career & College Readiness, Financial Literacy and paid internship opportunities throughout the year, opportunities to visit BMCC, our college partner, and various work based learning experiences. 

12th Grade – Senior Institute
Video Production
with Ms. Betty Bastidas 

Students learn video production building upon the skills and techniques acquired in the previous courses. Students will use Canon Cinema and video cameras and edit using Adobe Premiere. Students will become Adobe Premiere certified. Students also receive Career & College Readiness, Financial Literacy and paid internship opportunities throughout the year.  This course merges the New York State Career and Financial Management curriculum with business information specific to the recording and entertainment industry. Students graduate with a digital portfolio of work.
